Terms of Service

Last updated: October 24, 2026

These terms are an agreement between you and Oak Leaf Communications ("we", "us"), which operates StageComms: the website, the web app, and the iPhone, Apple Watch and Android apps. By using StageComms you agree to them. If you use StageComms for an organization, you agree for that organization too.

1. The service

StageComms is a cloud intercom: people in a space talk and listen on channels over the internet. It needs a working internet connection, and audio quality and delay depend on the networks involved.

StageComms is not an emergency or life-safety system. Don't rely on it where losing comms could cause injury, harm or damage, and keep another way to reach your crew.

2. Accounts

You need an account to create spaces; people you invite can join without one. Give accurate details, keep your password safe, and tell us if you think someone else is using your account. You are responsible for what happens in your spaces, including who you invite. You must be at least 13 years old, and old enough to enter a contract where you live to buy a paid plan.

3. Plans and payment

The Free plan has limits, such as how many people can be on comms at once and how many hours a month. Paid plans and event passes are bought on our website, and payment is processed by Stripe. The apps don't sell anything.

Subscriptions renew every month until you cancel. A subscription is priced per seat; a seat is one person on comms at once. Added seats are charged right away for the rest of the current period, and removed seats drop off at the next renewal.

Limits that come with each plan, such as hours per month, are described when you buy. When a plan's hours for the month are used up, new sessions can't start until the next month or until you add seats. Sessions already running carry on.

Event passes are one-time purchases. A pass stays ready until you start it and then runs for the time stated when you bought it.

Cancelling: you can cancel at any time. Your plan keeps working until the end of the period you paid for and then doesn't renew.

Refunds: payments are not refundable, except where the law requires.

Prices and taxes: prices don't include taxes unless stated. If we change a price, we will tell you at least 30 days before it applies to your next renewal.

Failed payments: if a payment fails, we retry it for a while. If it keeps failing, the subscription ends and the account moves to the Free plan.

4. Acceptable use

Don't use StageComms to break the law, harass people, or share content you don't have the right to share. Don't try to get around plan limits, disrupt or overload the service, access other people's spaces without permission, probe it for vulnerabilities without our written permission, or resell it without our agreement.

5. Your content and privacy

Audio is end-to-end encrypted and never recorded. The names, channels and settings you add stay yours; you allow us to store and process them only to run StageComms. The Privacy Policy explains what we collect and why.

6. Encryption keys

If you choose to keep a space's key only on your own devices, we never have it and can't recover it. If those devices lose it, the space must get a new key and new invite links.

7. Changes and availability

We work to keep StageComms running, but we don't promise it will always be available or free of errors. We may change or remove features. If we make a change that significantly reduces a paid plan, we will tell you first.

8. Ending

You can stop using StageComms and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or puts others at risk, and we will tell you why unless the law or safety prevents it.

9. Disclaimer

StageComms is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.

10. Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue or data. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim and 100 US dollars.

11. Indemnity

If someone makes a claim against us because of how you or your invitees used StageComms in breach of these terms, you will cover our reasonable costs of that claim.

12. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wyoming, without regard to its conflict of law rules. Disputes will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Wyoming, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring them elsewhere.

13. Apple and app stores

If you use the iPhone or Apple Watch app, these terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app and is not responsible for claims about it, including product liability, legal or regulatory claims, or intellectual property claims. You may use the app only on Apple devices you own or control, as the App Store terms allow. You confirm that you are not in a country under a US embargo and not on a US government list of restricted parties. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you. Other app stores' terms also apply to apps you get from them.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We will change the date above, and tell account holders by email about significant changes before they apply. Using StageComms after that means you accept the new terms.
